Mound Visits, 11/9/18

(You won’t be hearing from me for a few days. The November Baseball Outreach in the Dominican Republic begins Sunday. I’m leaving very early tomorrow morning…prayers appreciated! You can always reach me via email: keith@scorebaseball.org)

You never know who may be listening and what is going on in their lives. I recently spoke to a high school football team prior to an important game. Of course, I wanted to motivate them Knute Rockne style and inspire them to victory. God had other plans. This one particular verse kept coming in to my mind: “The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18)

A player came to me afterwards to share that his parents were going through a messy divorce which manifested itself on the sideline of a previous game. Besides this, in a period of just a few weeks he lost two grandfathers–two anchors in his life. God had given me these words for this young man and for a QB who missed his entire senior season because of knee surgery. God, even now, is close to those with broken hearts and saves those who are crushed in spirit. You may be near someone like this today. Allow God to love them through you.
