I hear coaches and athletes talk about their seasons as a “grind.” It can be, if you are struggling and you look at the entire season of competition and battles laying in front of you. In baseball, we teach our players to focus on one pitch at a time. That’s a great lesson for all of us, because we know that life is not a sprint, but a marathon that we take one step at a time.

“Great works are performed not by strength but by perseverance.”
(Samuel Johnson)

“…we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”
(Romans 5:3-4)
