I love a good story. Who doesn’t? Jesus was a great story teller. He could tell a compelling and powerful parable using few words. A great example of this is “The Parable of the Lost Son” found in Luke 15:11-32. Jesus, in this great story, reminds us that while sin would lock us in a prison of despair and shame and the world kick us while we’re down, there is great hope, even when we don’t deserve it. When we turn away from the guilt, shame and sin, God runs toward us with open arms. (Luke 15:20)

“But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.”
(Luke 15:22-24)

Forgiveness, Grace, Love, freedom from guilt and shame…and a celebration; why would we not want to “go home?”
