Mound Visits, 7/5/19

A few years ago, a college basketball team was serving on a mission trip in the Dominican Republic. As they were talking about going out for pizza after one of their games, they discovered that these young Dominican players had never eaten pizza in a restaurant, so the American players picked them up on their bus later that evening. When they dropped them off at their village afterwards, the Dominican players were very appreciative but had nothing to give in return. While leaving the bus, one of the Dominicans thanked the American team and then pulled off his shirt and gave it to one of the Americans.

Mother Teresa once said, “It is not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.”

“As He looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. ‘I tell you the truth,’ He said, ‘this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people give their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.’” (Luke 21:1-4)
