There’s an ancient saying in baseball, “You win a few, lose a few and a few get rained out.” As a minor leaguer in the early 70’s I loved the game, but back in those days the only days off were for the MLB All-Star Game and rain-outs. We all needed an “RO” now and then. We needed a little “R&R!” No matter how passionate you are about your profession, you need rest for your bodies, minds and spirits. If you don’t take time for rest, it will hurt you and all those around you. Jesus’ mission was far greater than ours, but He saw the value of rest for Himself and His disciples.
“Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, He said to them, ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.'” (Mark 6:31)
Hey, when you do schedule some rest and quiet, invite the Spirit of Christ to join you along with His Word (the Bible). Then, your bodies, minds and spirits will find rest and refreshment.
