It’s only natural that we want to be happy. We look for happiness in relationships, careers, travel, houses, cars and even what we wear. Many times we find happiness, but it’s fleeting and temporary, so we continue our search. In my experience, when we seek God, and spend time with Him, we find something more dependable and lasting…joy. It’s hard to be happy when people and things disappoint us, but if we find joy, we can have peace even during tough times. I once heard it said that “joy is not the absence of suffering; it is the presence of God.”
“Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” (1 Peter 1:8-9)
