I’m reading the parable of Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) this morning. In my notes are written:
The expert of the law treated the wounded man as a topic of discussion; the robbers treated him as an object to exploit; the priest saw him as a problem to avoid; the Levite saw him as an object of curiosity. Only the Samaritan treated him as a person to love.
I see this parable being played out on a grand scale before my eyes on a national level. It’s up to me to choose whether to ignore, exploit or to love and care for those who are wounded in my sphere of influence.
