David was obviously a great man of faith. Even so, there were times in his adventurous life that he experienced anger, succumbed to temptation, had fear and even panicked. On one occasion of fear and panic his own son, Absalom, was trying to hunt him down to kill him. David turned his panic to praise and said this:
“But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.”
(Psalms 3:3)
When we are desperate, even when we panic, we should tell God exactly how we feel (He knows) then praise Him for being our shield.
