My toughest mound visit as a coach was Joe Blanton. It seemed that when I approached the mound, it was as if Joe was saying, “This is my mound and my baseball. You’re going to have to rip this ball out of my hand. I loved his competitiveness, but didn’t enjoy the mound visits. Overall, he was a phenomenal pitcher and a great person to coach.
What do we grip that should be handed over to God? Is it worry, fear, selfishness, pride or a secret addiction? From experience, I know that it’s so much better to open your hand and give it to God. With our hands open, He extends, grace, courage and forgiveness.
”Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”“
(Matthew 14:31)
“Hold loosely to the things of this life, so that if God requires them of you, it will be easy to let them go.”
