My first year as the coach at Kentucky we broke the school record for wins. It wasn’t because of my coaching. It was because the players themselves wanted to go in the opposite direction from the year before, when they broke the school record for losses. It’s impossible to drag people along to change their mindset. It’s all about reminding them that they are winners and showing them the way.
In our faith journey, Jesus will not drag us along to walk with Him. First we must repent (change direction) and want to follow Him. We must listen to His encouragement and His words of love. Then we can walk with Him in victory. Jesus said:
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”(Revelation 3:20)
