MOUND VISIT
In the small country church I grew up in, there was a man named Jethro. He seemed old but he was probably in his 30’s. He had much difficulty talking. He spoke very few words. People in our community called him “simple.” He always sat next to his mother. We would have testimonies in our church, times when people would stand and share what God was doing in their lives. One day Jethro stood to give a testimony. You could hear a pen drop in the old church. Jethro simply stood, pointed to heaven, and smiled with tears flowing down his face. I looked around and saw old farmers and other men and women weeping joyfully because of Jethro’s “testimony.”
“And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”
(Romans 5:5)
