My mother is 97 and in the past month she has become weaker physically. She doesn’t have the strength in her legs to walk. She still has her sense of humor and she still remembers “country sayings” she learned from her mother decades ago. Yesterday, when we were helping her get into her wheelchair, she said, “you don’t appreciate the water until the well runs dry.”
We don’t appreciate walking until we can’t. All of the blessings we have are gifts from God. Let’s be thankful for Immanuel (God with us), family and friends, food, shelter, and all of the physical gifts we still have.
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
