The Christmas Haircut.
When I was in second grade my brother Tom was in fourth grade and my sister Sharon in sixth grade. After Christmas, Tom’s teacher asked what each student received from Christmas. As the teacher went down the row asking, the answers came back proudly; one boy answered, “a bicycle,” another answered, “a basketball,” another “a baseball glove.” The teacher finally made it down the row to a quiet boy. When the teacher asked him, he shyly said, “a haircut.”
My brother was practically in tears by the time we got off the school bus. Tom quickly went in to tell our mother his story. Our mother purchased some gifts and added to the gifts some clothes and “hand me downs.” My brother’s heart was learning about gratitude and the blessings of “giving “ when he secretly gave the gifts to the teacher for the boy with the Christmas haircut.
May the joy of giving and gratitude fill our hearts these next few days. And, let’s especially be grateful to the One who gave His life so that we may live…Jesus, our Lord and the King of Kings.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
