Faith:
A man brought his son to Jesus. The man’s son was dealing with serious emotional issues. In the Gospel of Mark we are told the son was demon possessed. The father asked, “if you can, take pity on us and help us.” This was Jesus’ reply and, then, the father’s response to Jesus:
“‘If you can?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:23-24)
The father of the son was totally honest in his request, “help me to overcome my unbelief!” Jesus healed the man’s son. Jesus looks at the posture of our hearts.
