Several years ago, a very talented played crossed the line between ‘swag’ and arrogance. It affected his effort and our team chemistry. One day during practice I called him over and privately asked him, “who gave you the ability you have?” After a few seconds of serious reflection he looked me in the eye and said, God.” His effort and energy improved.
“Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” (Proverbs 16:18)
When we become thankful to the Giver of good gifts, our lives and the lives of those around us gets better.
