Most people have great expectations…
for others. If sports fans expected half as much effort and success for themselves as they do the players and coaches on their favorite team, they would become phenomenally successful in their own careers. We demand excellence from others, but not so much for ourselves.
We expect less from ourselves because we often try to do life all on our own. We don’t have to go it alone. The wisdom God gave Solomon encourages us in this way:
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”
(Proverbs 16:3)
