Each morning I should start my day with a prayer asking God to help with what I hold dear in my heart. The reason for this request is that we all have a bit of the Pharisees within us!
Jesus said to the Pharisees, “You are the ones who justify yourselves among men, but God knows your hearts.”
(Luke 16:15)
King Solomon advised:
“Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” (Proverbs 4:23)
So, my prayer should echo David’s:
“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
(Psalm 51:10)
If there was ever a time we need our hearts right it is now.
(I’ll be in the Dominican Republic for several days, so I will be taking a break…or giving you a break…from the morning text…Pray that our hearts will be right in order to serve well down there)
