The guilt and shame Peter felt after denying he knew Christ after Jesus’ arrest must have been overwhelming. For several years Peter showed dedication, even boldness in following Jesus. But when it mattered most, he denied knowing Him three times. There is no denying Jesus’ love for Peter, and for us. In Mark16:5-7, immediately after the resurrection, notice how Jesus wants Peter to know how He is loved, included and accepted, “As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe, sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. ‘Don’t be alarmed,’ he said. ‘You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell His disciples AND Peter, He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.'”
