Abraham Lincoln often quoted poet John Lyndgate with these true words: “You can please some of the people all the time, you can please all the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.”
We have more peace in our life and we are so much more productive when we pursue pleasing God instead of the futility of striving to please man. If you make an effort to please God, He will “equip you” to please Him. The Writer of Hebrews gives us this benediction:
“May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with every thing good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
(Hebrews 13: 20-21)
