How can we make sense of life’s roadblocks, dead ends and catastrophes? First, we shouldn’t confuse God with life. Second, we look to the cross. Could anything be mere horrible than seeing your Messiah captured, beaten, spit upon and then suffer even more and then die on the cross. But what enemy saw as death, God saw as life. The resurrection turned death into life and despair into great hope.
Paul David Tripp says it like this: “What looks like a disaster may in fact be grace. What looks like the end may be the beginning. What looks hopeless may be God’s instrument to give you real and lasting hope. Your Father is committed to taking what seems to be bad and turning it in to something that is very, very good.”
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
(Romans 12:12)
