In the Dan Fogelberg song from the lates 70’s, “Heart Hotels,” he compares his heart to a lonely hotel in need of cleaning and repair:
“Well there’s too many windows in this old hotel
And rooms filled with reckless pride”
Many times the wear and tear of pride keeps us from freedom and peace God wants us to have. He wants to clean up the wreckage of pride in our hearts and He wants to heal our brokenness.
Consider Jesus’ invitation to help us with our “heart problem:”
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”
(Revelation 3:20)
Jesus is the perfect gentleman. When He knocks on the door of our hearts, it’s up to us to open the door and invite Him in.
