Mound Visits, 5/27/23

Yesterday I was talking to a friend who is 85 years old. He ran for political office when he was a young man. He lost. He was broke, heavily in debt, had no job and was disappointed, to say the least. Soon afterward he started a small business that he loved. A few years before he retired, he sold the business for an incredibly large sum of money.

God has a plan for our lives. Perhaps it’s not to become a multimillionaire, but if we don’t give up after major disappointments, He will open just the right door for us.

“Our best successes often come after our greatest disappointments.”
(Henry Ward Beecher)

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” -Isaiah 55:8-9
