When I have a lot on my mind, my natural inclination is to worry or try to fix everything . Worry accomplishes nothing and the types of things that burden me I’m incapable of fixing. Before a situation gets to the worry phase, I should ask Jesus to lighten my load. He is willing, and more than able, to carry my burden. For me, this is not as easy as it sounds. I usually wait until the burden gets so heavy that it brings me to my knees. By then, I’m exhausted. Ah, but He will take my burden AND give me rest.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
(Matthew 11:28-30)
“Fear not the storm, it brings healing in its wings, and when Jesus is with you in the vessel the tempest only hastens the ship to its desired haven.” (Charles Spurgeon)
