Rosa Parks knew something about taking a stand for what she knew in her heart was right. Actually, “she took a seat” for what is right. Her bravery is a symbol for the civil rights movement. Now, streets, schools, parks and buildings are named in honor of this small, elderly woman. She once said, “People always say that I didn’t give up my seat because I was tired, but that wasn’t true. I wasn’t tired physically…no, the real tired I was, was the tired of giving in.”
We are all called to standing for what is right, not giving in. In Luke 21:19, Jesus said: “By standing firm you will gain life.”
