We can learn from our mistakes, but we should never dwell on them. Dwelling on the past simply bogs us down and prohibits us from moving forward. Former Negro League pitcher and Hall of Famer, Satchel Paige once said, “Don’t look back, something might be gaining on you.” If you’ve ever tried to win a foot race, you know that if you look back, you will not run as fast and also get off course. The writer of Hebrews knew this was true spiritually, as well: “…let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.” (Hebrews 12:1-2)
