It is true that the darkest hour is just before the dawn. Your mind can go to place of doubt, fear and worry when you are the only one awake and morning and normalcy seem to be days away. That happened to me last night. I tried to pray-perhaps I did-because a beautiful old hymn kept going through my mind. Finally, my eyes closed and very soon it was morning.
When darkness overcomes you, have this verse hidden in your heart:
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:22-23
