God is very close to us even when we “feel” as if He is very, very far away. Rejection, abandonment, betrayal, bad news from your doctor, the passing of a loved one, disappointment, humiliation or succumbing to temptation all make us feel distant from God. King David experienced all of the above, and more. Hear what God revealed to him:
“The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18)
“He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)
May we all have confidence in this truth from Hebrews 10:23,
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.”
