I’m always encouraged when I look st someone’s Twitter or Facebook page and along with other things they proclaim “Jesus Follower,” or “Christ Follower.” For those of us who are Jesus followers, we must be careful what we post on social media. Back in the 80’s when Christian bumper stickers were a fad, it would not be unusual to see a “Honk if You Love Jesus” bumper sticker owner lean on their horn or even “flip someone off” for cutting them off in traffic. Back to the social media post…recently, I have posted something with a bite, only to be convicted and not post it or delete it after posting. If we really follow Jesus, we won’t be perfect, as He is, but we will love Him and have a desire to be more like Him. A pastor once said, “Jesus isn’t looking for fans, He’s looking for followers.”
Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
(John 8:12)
With our speech today and in our social media posts, will we exude light or darkness?
