As a minor league baseball player, even as a believer, I became totally undisciplined in regards to my spiritual life. In those days, MiLB had no Baseball Chapel or Chaplain. Even though I knew Christ, I wasn’t spending any time in the Word and only prayed when I felt shame and guilt or if I pitched poorly. Eventually, I wrongly believed that I had gotten so far from God that He didn’t want to hear from me. This couldn’t have been further from the truth.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor death, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38,39)
