Humiliating mistakes I made during my 28 years as a coach:
1. Forgetting how many mound visits made in a long inning and having to bring in a pitcher not properly prepared into the game. Ouch
2. Turning in the wrong lineup card, and getting burned during a crucial part of the game because one of my players hit out of order. Ouch
3. Sprinting out of the dugout, on the road, after a bad call by the umpire only to fall flat on my face in front of heckling fraternity guys. Ouch
There have been more…
We all make mistakes. Perhaps yours haven’t been as humiliating as mine, but you’ve made them. Then, there are the boneheaded mistakes we make that only God knows about. He is so good, kind and merciful to love us, forgive us and help turn us in the right direction.
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.”
