Watch and Pray.
Tempted? Of course we are. Fail and sin? Of course we do, but God wants to help us. As I was reading through the Gospel of Matthew, this verse grabbed my attention more than ever before:
“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
(Matthew 26:41)
Jesus is telling his disciples (and us) to “watch and pray.” We know what tempts us, but we don’t pray because we think ‘we can handle it.’ No we can’t. But God can. Unless we pray and ask God to help us, we will fail again. The same God who helped David take down Goliath can help us turn our backs to temptation. “Watch and pray.”
