The Carpenter’s Son.
When Jesus went back to His very small hometown of Nazareth, they were intrigued by His gracious words and His wisdom, but they asked, How can this be? Isn’t this Joseph’s son? The people of Nazareth were too familiar with Jesus. They would not allow themselves to worship Him with awe. Do we sometimes become too familiar with Him? Are we ever in awe of Him when we pray, worship or read about Him in the Bible? Familiarity is in the mind. Worship and awe come from the heart.
“All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.”
(Luke 4:22)
“The good news is that in the face of Jesus Christ we see the very face of God, the One who has decided to be with us and for us in spite of our sin.”
