Habits, Sin, Self-respect.
None of us have it all figured out. I certainly don’t. Paul tells us that “we all sin and fall short of the glory of God.” We may fall into a pigsty but we don’t have to live in it.
Bad habits can be hard to break. It could be using profanity, eating too much, drinking too much, watching inappropriate videos, or being disrespectful to your spouse or co-workers.
Good habits can be hard to start. Whether it’s daily prayer and Bible reading, attending church regularly, eating healthier foods, or treating people with more kindness and respect.
Sometimes we need help. We may even need professional help. The best place to start is by confessing to the Lord our weaknesses and sin, then asking Him to help us repent, turning away from the bad habits and walking toward Him. The closer we are to Jesus, the closer we become to self-respect and respecting others.
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” – Proverbs 16:3
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” – Romans 12:2
