Mound Visits, 3/26/18

Many years ago, as a relatively young coach, I was asked to speak at the FCA Breakfast to help kick off the College World Series in Omaha. In those days, every coach and player attended. I was so nervous that I didn’t sleep at all the night before. Finally, exhausted and frustrated, very early in the morning, I remember praying, “Lord, I want this to be about You, not me. Even if I literally fall on my face, as long as You receive glory, it will be good.” I don’t remember anything I talked about that morning, but I met two players at the breakfast who made a major impact on my team and on my life. God had a plan!

‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ (Jeremiah 29:11)
