Good Friday. This is the day we reflect on the great act of love and sacrifice for mankind. Paul in Colossians 2:13-15 explains that we were dead in our sins, but we were made alive in Christ. “He forgave us all our sins…cancelled the written code with all of its regulations and took them away, nailing them to a cross.” Peter says it like this in 1 Peter 2:24, “He Himself bore our sins in His body on a tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds you have been healed.”
This day was gruesome for Christ, for sure. It was dark, also, for those who loved Him and thought that the religious leaders and Romans had killed their teacher, Messiah and miracle worker. But, the tomb will not hold Jesus. This is where Love defeats hate, righteousness triumphs over evil, Life conquers death and sinners like me are given a pathway to eternal life through the love and righteousness of Christ. Good Friday!
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
