What is good about Good Friday? When I was a kid I always wondered why people called such a tragic, sad day Good.
So, what is good about Good Friday?
1. Besides the physical pain snd the humiliation, Jesus took the past, present and future sins of the world upon Him that day. He took our sin and gave to us His righteousness so that we can have a relationship with a Holy and perfect God. The great exchange, my sin in exchange for His righteousness. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
2. Jesus, in horrendous spiritual, emotional and physical pain, gave to us the ultimate example of freedom through forgiveness. “Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34)
3. Jesus also showed us that, through Him, we can walk through the deepest, darkest valley and come out on the other side victorious. Sunday. Yes, Sunday makes Good Friday good! (Psalm 23:4)
“He himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we may die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds you have been healed.” (1 Peter 2:24)
