Mound Visits, 5/19/20

During my numerous trips to the Dominican Republic I have noticed each time that the joy of the people there either equals or surpasses ours here in the States…especially the children. They sometimes have no shoes, but they have smiles. They may only eat one meal per day but they play with enthusiasm I rarely see here in the States. We can have more joy in our lives, as well, if we look to Jesus instead of our own desires; if we serve others rather than crave what we can’t have.

When we look to ourselves, the more we have, the more we want. When we serve others, we think about their needs instead of our wants.

Paul wrote these words from a prison cell:

“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.”
‭‭(Philippians‬ ‭4:12‬)

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
‭‭(Philippians‬ ‭4:19‬)
