Mound Visits, 7/1/23

“Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona.” – George Will

Many people receiving this “Mound Visit” have spent much of their lives either playing, coaching or scouting in the grand old game of baseball. The game is in our blood, as many say. How can we blend our love for Christ with the game we love? The answer to this question would be difficult if we as individuals tried to come up with a plan on our own. You may have a different answer, but my answer is to take Jesus with you to the ballparks, to the recruiting visits and even to the competition. Not in an “in your face” way but by exuding His love, compassion and strength. God is for you. He placed us in a unique position. We will not get it perfect. But if we ask Him to be with us in every practice, game, player meeting and recruiting visit, your light will shine. You don’t have to preach to your team, but God will give you windows of opportunity to honor Christ. You will be set apart from many “baseball guys.” Be authentic. Be authentically His and He will bless you in surprising ways!

“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.”
