Mound Visits, 7/17/23

Sharon and I attended the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame banquet last night. There were some great former athletes there…Bench, Rose, Perez, Concepcion and many more. The current team was there as well…young, vibrant and athletic. Two things were noticed by me as I observed the old and the young:
One, the current players were very respectful to the former greats. Two, the young players had no clue about the brevity of life. Age sneaks up on us with the stealth of a lion and suddenly with a roar we are old. For those of us with faith in Christ, there is much more ahead of us that what is remembered behind.

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
(Psalms 90:12)

“Let those who thoughtfully consider the brevity of life remember the length of eternity.” (Thomas Ken)
