It’s a very good thing to demand excellence from yourself, and from others if you are a leader. It is not a good thing to “crush” someone’s spirit. As a coach, I can still remember when I crossed that line. I can think of a couple of players I lost because their spirit was crushed. Yes, demand excellence but let those under your guidance know that you care. “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” (Proverbs 17:22)
