Mound Visits, 9/29/16

Back in the mid-’90’s during the 1st half of a very competitive SEC schedule, we were rolling. We hadn’t lost a series and we were battling for 1st in our division and ranked in the top 10. Our A.D. was working on bids to host a regional. Then…we dropped like a rock and didn’t win another SEC series. It was a devastating. I felt like the worst coach in the world. A few weeks after the season, early one morning, I opened up my Bible and read Psalm 11. In verse 3, the Psalmist asked, “When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?” I remember thinking, “I don’t feel very righteous, but that’s a good question!” Then, I read the next verse: “The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord is on his heavenly throne.” Then, it dawned on me, God never leaves me. He never sleeps. He’s always on His throne and His Holy Spirit (The Comforter) is always within me.  He’s with us when we win, when we lose and when we are rained out!
