Whatever challenges we face, as children of God, we know that we are not alone. Each Christmas we are reminded of Immanuel, “God with us.” “Christmas has a deeper significance to followers of Jesus… Christmas is the season of Immanuel. We celebrate the good news that He is near, that He cares for us, and …
One of the most frustrating things for a coach is to see his players “go through the motions.” Their bodies are present but their hearts are not. Many times, God sees that in our relationship with Him. These three things help me when I find myself going through the motions:1. Each time we pray, read …
“Jesus told this parable:“Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth …
If our hope is in conservatives, progressives, the market or possessions, we are lost. Follow Him. In Jesus we find hope, light, truth and salvation. Even if you have less than a mustard seed portion of faith, follow Him. “Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please …
It’s good to have a “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” mentality, but what if you have no boots? God specializes in doing for us what we cannot do for ourselves. Recently, I heard on a podcast that we should make sure that our character can keep pace with our success. “Men of genius are admired, men of wealth are envied, men of power are feared; but only men of character are trusted.”(Alfred Adler) “Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.””(1 Corinthians 15:33) Keith …
Abraham Lincoln was a man who faced great personal and leadership challenges. Like most of us, there were times of discouragement, doubt, fear and melancholy. But, I believe, in his heart was hidden the timeless truths from the Word of God read to him by his mother by light of the fireplace in an humble …
