David was a sinner similar to the rest of us. But in Acts 13:32 David is called “a man after Gods own heart.” I believe his heart and his honesty in prayer drew him close to God. Man identifies others by their sins, God identifies us by our hearts. David’s prayer in Psalm 139:23-24 is both honest and courageous and one we all need to pray.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.”
(Psalms 139:23-24)
