After helping conduct a two hour baseball clinic in the blistering sun in the Dominican Republic several years ago, a group of boys surrounded me. All the boys were shouting “pelota, pelota!” All except one, he was weakly asking, not for a baseball, but for aqua. He was sick, thirsty and probably dehydrated. This boy only wanted water. Even all these years later I can see his face.
When I recall that story, many times I think of the “woman at the well” and what Jesus said to her:
”Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”“
(John 4:13-14)
Lord, help us to share aqua, but more importantly, the Living Water.
