Mound Visits, 10/18/19

As we were traveling on a bus near San Pedro in the Dominican Republic last week, I asked a freshman baseball player, “What is your number one takeaway from playing and serving in the D.R. so far?” His answer surprised me. “The first day, driving from the airport, I saw poverty and living conditions like I had only seen in the movies. But that day it became real to me.”

My prayer is this: “Father, help me not to become desensitized to the suffering we see in the world and in our own communities.”

“I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you…”
(Ephesians 1:18)
