Below is a definition of the word “let.”

not prevent or forbid; allow.

Many times I don’t let or allow good things to happen in my life because I continue to hang on to negative things such as worry and control. Many times we don’t allow God to bless us with peace because we hang on to the bad stuff and try to “fix it” all ourselves. I need to surrender those harmful things to God and allow Him to be in control. After all, He’s infinitely better at it than I am.

One of my wife’s favorite verses (emphasis mine):

“LET the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. AND BE THANKFUL.”
(Colossians 3:15)
