Mound Visits, 11/30/17

Years ago, after my father retired, he had open heart surgery and carotid artery surgery. Then he developed rheumatoid arthritis which completely changed his body. Finally, he developed Alzheimer’s, which completely changed his mind. Then, in ‘03, he passed from this life to the next.

This all sounds very depressing, but God has given us some beautiful things to hold on to; great memories of a man with character and a heart changed through Christ; and faith, which helps us know that my father is free from a crippled body and a cruel disease called Alzheimer’s.

This life we live is beautiful, at times. But there’s pain and heartbreak, as well. For those in Christ, there is a wonderful future.
“Now we know that if this earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.”
(2 Corinthians 5:1)
“We live by faith, not by sight.”
(2 Corinthians 5:7)
