Mound Visits, 12/11/23

Almost every Kentuckian knows all of the lyrics of the old Stephen Foster classic, “My Old Kentucky Home.” One of the lines came to mind this morning as I was having my “quiet time.” It goes like this: “By ‘n by hard times comes a-knocking at the door.”

Foster was right, hard times eventually will knock at every door. That’s always when the enemy whispers, “Where is your God now?” That’s when we should respond, “He is where He always has been and always will be, with me to help me hour by hour and day by day.”

We don’t always feel His nearness, but we can rest assured He will never abandon us. Remember, it was Jesus who said:

“Behold, I am with you always…” (Matthew 28:20)
