One of the great enemies of my life is “busyness.” I remember when I retired from coaching, I thought, “Finally, now I will have time to be alone with God, to Study His Word and to just enjoy the peace of being quiet before Him and to know Him better.” Transitioning from coaching to ministry didn’t change my personality or my heart; it just changed what I was busy doing each day. One thing God continues to teach me is that we are hard pressed to fight these battles alone. And, we don’t have to fight these battles alone. A very significant part of the great Christmas message is in one of the awesome names given to Christ: “Immanuel—which means, ‘God with us.”
(Matthew 1:23)
Immanuel is with us to help us in our struggles and to be the Counselor, Teacher, Savior, Messiah and Lord. We are not alone and it’s OK to ask Him to help us fight the battles within us; to forgive and to heal our hearts. “He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul.” (Psalm 23:3)
“He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.”
(Psalm 147:3)
