Many years ago when my wife, Sharon, was battling breast cancer our family was gripped with fear and uncertainty. Initially, the doctors said her chance of surviving was “50/50.” We had two sons in elementary school and our lives were turned upside down. One day Sharon shared a verse with me that she would hold close to her heart throughout her trial: “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”
(Colossians 3:15) The key word for both of us at that time was “Let.” As long as we hold on to our doubts and fears there is no peace. We must “let go and let God.” Then, peace comes through trusting and leaning completely on Christ.
